FAQs and Care Tips

Candle Maintenance

Question: Why isn't my candle releasing a strong fragrance?

Answer: Some fragrances are naturally stronger than others so scent throw can vary depending on which candle you're burning. Single wick candles are best for smaller rooms and double wick candles are best for medium sized room. If you wish to smell a strong fragrance in a large room, we suggest burning more than one candle at once and place them at two separate ends of the room.

Question: Why is my candle tunnelling? (wax build up on the edges of the candle)

Answer: When a candle tunnels, it is likely that the candle has not been burning long enough for the wax to pool from edge to edge. The first time you burn your candle, you should allow it to burn for 3-4 hours to ensure that the melted wax has reached all the way around the edge of the container. If your candle has already started to tunnel and you want to fix it, try burning it for 3-4 hours to allow the candle to self correct. Continue to do this until it has completely self corrected. 4 hours is the maximum time we would recommend burning your candle for at any one time.

Question: Why is my candle releasing soot?

Answer: Soot is a natural occurrence for any candle. However, that being said, all of our candles are made with premium, pure soy wax which is clean burning, meaning that it should not be releasing excessive soot. If your candle is continuously releasing soot, it can be a result of carbon build up in the wick, not trimming the wicks after every burn, over-burning the candle (burning for more than 4 hours at a time), or burning the candle in a draft. To minimise soot, try trimming your wick to 1.5cm, moving your candle to a different location or extinguishing it if it has been burning for a prolonged period of time.

Question: What is the best place to burn a candle?

Answer: You want to burn your candle away from an open window or door (any place that may cause a draft), on a heat resistant surface or coaster, away from the wall and any soft furnishings like blinds or curtains and out of reach of any pets that may jump up or knock it off.

Question: What type of wax is used to make the candles?

Answer: We use 100% pure soy wax.

Question: Do your wicks contain led?

Answer: Our wicks are made from cotton and paper and contain no traces of led.

Question: Are your candles vegan and cruelty free?

Answer: Yes, our candles are 100% vegan friendly and cruelty free. We do not test on animals and one of our products contain any animal products. The leather used on our hampers is faux leather.
