A TALK WITH ENI LASHES
Azaria is the owner of the luxury eyelash business ‘Eni Lashes’. She set up the business 11 months ago. She has always wanted to start her own business but she didn’t know what kind of business she wanted to set up. The idea of Eni Lashes came about when her friend did her makeup and put some false eyelashes on her. Azaria had never worn false lashes before as she didn’t think they were her style but she was amazed at how confident she felt when she had the on.
‘It amazed me how something so small could give me so much confidence and from then on I decided that I wanted to pass that confidence on to other people.’
Azaria was one of the first ever business owners that I connected with through Hestia Scents. We both attended the same online webinar and after it ended she reached out to me on LinkedIn. We finally got to meet in person when she came and visited my stall at the Cardiff Christmas Market last year and she has been one of the best connections I have made in the small business community, she is so supportive and kind and makes the best quality false lashes I have ever owned.
If you know me, I barely ever leave the house without a false set of lashes on. Since I wore my first pair in year 13, there had barely been a day that I had not worn a set (before the pandemic hit and I spent everyday with no makeup on). In the new year, I treated myself to a pair on Eni Lashes and the quality amazed me. All of Azaria’s lashes are faux mink, which is essentially synthetic fibres made with a similar feel and durability of mink eyelashes, but with no animal product involved.

I have also found that the box is great for storing small items like hair grips and hair ties so you can use it time and time again even when the lashes are no longer useable.
Azaria’s favourite thing about having a small business is the community. She loves hearing back from customers about how they’re enjoying her products, suggestions for products they would love to see and makeup advice. The supportive online community is a massive upside to running a small business however it isn’t always a walk in the park. Azaria mentioned that one of the hardest things she’s faced when running her small business is learning that business isn’t a linear, clear cut process. When you start out there’s no clear timeline of how long it will take you to be successful or how long it will take you to be able to live off your business, or even if your business will survive long term. Nothing is guaranteed when operating a business and Azaria thinks the most important thing to remember is that success is subjective, how you define success determines how successful your business is to you. Success can be getting your first order, first 10, first 100, but if your success is based on comparison to another business it can make it a bit more difficult to achieve the success you want.
When I asked Azaria where she hopes to see her business in 5 years she explained that she hopes her business is making enough money that she can run it as her full time job and afford to pay herself through the income it generates. She also explained that she would love to have an office space for the business.
Finally these are Azaria’s three top tips for anyone looking to start a business:
- There is no perfect time to start a business. If you’re waiting for the perfect time to start, you’ll be waiting forever! Just jump in and start!
- Celebrate all your achievements, no matter how small. If you don’t do this it is easy to let things pass you by
- Although running a business can be challenging, take time to enjoy your process
